This policy explains what information YardCalcHub collects when you use yardcalchub.com, how it is used, and the choices you have. Effective date: October 10, 2026.

1. Who we are

YardCalcHub (yardcalchub.com, “we”, “us”, “our”) is a free website of calculators and guides for yard, garden and home projects, operated by Umar Farooq. For any privacy question, contact us at liamfosterpro@gmail.com or through our contact page.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

When you use our contact form or email us, we receive your name, email address, phone number if you choose to give it, the topic you select and your message. We also record the page the form was sent from, the date and time, your IP address and browser type, to answer you and to protect the form from spam and abuse.

Calculator inputs

Our calculators run in your browser. The measurements and prices you type are not sent to us or stored on our servers. If you switch between US and metric units, your browser remembers that choice locally (in “local storage”) so the next calculator opens in the same units. You can clear it at any time in your browser settings.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our hosting provider records standard server logs: IP address, browser and device type, pages requested, the referring page and the date and time. Analytics and advertising partners may also collect information through cookies and similar technologies, as described below.

3. How we use information

  • To provide and maintain the website and its calculators.
  • To answer your messages and requests.
  • To understand which pages are useful and improve the site.
  • To show advertising that keeps the site free.
  • To keep the site secure, prevent spam and abuse, and meet legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use the contact form to add you to a mailing list.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We and our partners use:

  • Preference storage: remembers your US/metric choice in your browser.
  • Analytics cookies: help us understand how visitors use the site (see Analytics below).
  • Advertising cookies: used by Google and its partners to serve and measure ads (see Advertising below).

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking cookies does not stop the calculators from working. Where the law requires it – for example for visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland – we ask for your consent before non-essential cookies are used, and you can change your choice at any time.

5. Advertising and Google AdSense

We use Google AdSense to show ads on this website.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to our users based on their visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info (US) or www.youronlinechoices.eu (Europe).
  • If you opt out, you will still see ads, but they will not be personalized based on your browsing.

6. Analytics

We may use Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use the site – for example which calculators are most popular. Google Analytics collects information such as pages viewed, time on site, device type and approximate location, and reports it to us in aggregate. You can prevent Google Analytics from using your data by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

7. How we share information

We do not sell personal information. We share information only:

  • with service providers that run the site for us, such as our web host and email provider, who may only use it to provide their service;
  • with advertising and analytics partners through cookies, as described above;
  • when required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and security of our users, the public or the website.

8. How long we keep information

Contact-form messages and emails are kept for up to 24 months, then deleted, unless we need them longer to resolve a dispute or meet a legal requirement. Server logs are kept by our host for a limited period for security. Cookie lifetimes are set by the partners that place them.

9. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, object to or restrict its use, receive a copy of it, and withdraw consent at any time.

  • EEA, UK and Switzerland (GDPR): we rely on your consent for advertising and analytics cookies, and on our legitimate interest in running and protecting the site and answering messages. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
  • California and other US states: you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, to correct it and not to be discriminated against for using these rights. We do not sell personal information. Advertising cookies may count as “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law; you can opt out using the Google Ads Settings and industry opt-out links in section 5.

To make a request, contact us at liamfosterpro@gmail.com or use the contact form and choose “Privacy or data request”. We will respond within the time the law requires, and may need to confirm your identity first.

10. Children's privacy

YardCalcHub is intended for adults planning home and garden projects and is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA and UK). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

11. Security and international transfers

We use HTTPS encryption and reasonable technical measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Our service providers and advertising partners may process information in countries other than yours, including the United States; where required, they use appropriate safeguards for these transfers.

Our pages link to other websites, such as manufacturers, industry organizations and opt-out tools. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices; please read their policies.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top shows when it last changed. Significant changes will be highlighted on this page.
